Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
I'm sure there will be, but not right now.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
Hello,

Thank you so much. Will there be a future release allowing AdvOR to intercept 64-bit applications?

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
@ John Ryan

I was wrong all this time about AdvOR being able to intercept 64 bit applications. It can not do that, that is the reason why you get thread creation error. So the only solution for now is using 32 bit application or use built in proxy configuration if there is one.

About retrieving list of bridges in AdvOR. Tor Project maintainers added a captcha on purpose, they didn't want the AdvOR to be able to download the list of bridges, that's why it doesn't work anymore. It is yet unsure if AdvOR will have to bypass the captcha somehow, maybe in later versions. Solution here is to paste them manually as you did earlier.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
You are right, it is alot safer to intercept applications, so they don't leak for sure. This error message will be looked at, thank you for reporting it.

This Bluestacks application, does it have its own proxy settings? As I said before, most programs do, you just have to look after it in network options section. As a temporary solution.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
Well, we're dealing with Microsoft programs, programs that could, at any time or for no reason, bypass the configured proxy settings, but I guess I could wing it. But I'm also dealing with a Bluestacks application that I had determined was 64-bit, accesses the internet, and does not follow the system proxy settings.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
Are you reading external datasets via Tor network? LOL, that is something new.

However, all MS products should follow the system built in proxy configuration. You can find the fields in Control panel > Internet options > Connections > LAN settings > Proxy server. Fill these with your AdvOR listening address, 127.0.0.1:9050 by default.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
I use Microsoft Office 64-bit. I work with large datasets and this helps me take advantage of the increased processing resources. This is what I need to route using AdvOR.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
I have met this problem before. What version of AdvOR are you running?

What programs are you trying to intercept? You don't need to say any names if you don't want, but I would like to know if they have proxy tunneling settings. Most network programs do.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
Yeah, and I found that to work, but I have another problem. I can only intercept 32-bit programs in the program, and when I attempt to do so for a 64-bit program, I encounter the error: "Error creating remote thread, code 5." I run a 64-bit operating system and have 64-bit programs that I would need to route through Tor.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
The workaround is to visit this site: https://bridges.torproject.org/bridges, correctly enter the captcha (I managed only from 7'th time, no wonder AdvOR can't do this) and manually paste the results into the bridges list in your application.

No idea when it will be fixed, maybe our captcha recognizer will be useful here. You will sure notice any progress in AdvOR changelog sooner or later.

Re: Unable to Obtain List of Bridges
Thank you. Can you suggest any workarounds for the time being, or how long it will take before the bug is fixed?

Post

Hello,

I just installed AdvOR and while I have been able to successfully establish a connection, I have not been able to obtain a list of bridges for use by AdvOR. I would cilck the "Bypass ISP Filtering" option in the left pane of the program and click "Get a list with bridges from https://bridges.torproject.org/", and no bridges would appear in the list. Is this a defect, or something that I can easily correct?

Thanks,
John.
